Bitumen Sales from Iran: We supply bitumen from refineries in Iran.  Different grades of bitumen are available for the various end user purposes. We supply bitumen in metal drums and also in bulk. The analysis of various bitumen grades we supply is below:

Bitumen is a high viscosity liquid and sometimes semi-solid that is black or brown color and is produced from oil. Bitumen is also known as asphalt in some countries. Bitumen may exist naturally in nature or can be obtained from oil refining during the refining process. Bitumen is classified as pitch. The most used bitumen, 70% bitumen, is used in the road construction industry as a binder mixed with sand particles and used for road construction. Another use of bitumen for the construction of waterproofing products used in the building industry is to build insulators for roofing. The names asphalt and tar (bitumen) are commonly used for both natural and bitumen produced in the refinery. In America, bitumen is referred to as asphalt from the residue of the distillation process at the refinery, and geologists use the name bitumen more. Another name used for this material is gilsonite and the ancient name for bitumen as mentioned earlier. The bitumen found in nature is also called crude bitumen that has a viscosity similar to that of cold molasses viscosity, and the bitumen obtained from the distillation residue is refined bitumen, the kind of bitumen that comes from crude oil refining. The resulting boiling point is about 525 ° C.

Some types of bitumen are produced in nature through the gradual conversion of crude oil and the evaporation of volatiles over many years. Such bitumen is called natural bitumen and its durability is higher than petroleum bitumen. Such bitumen may be pure in nature (lake bitumen), such as the Iranian bitumen lake Behbahan and the American bitumen lake in Trinidad, or extracted from mines (mineral bitumen). Bitumen is also known as Uintaite.
Gilsonite is the same bitumen extracted from mines. This mineral has so far only been discovered in western Iran. This material is used in the preparation of isogam, insulation of water pipes, construction of waxes and asphalt, drilling of oil wells and preparation of printer ink and … etc.

Bitumen 60/70 is one of the types of refinery bitumen. This bitumen is produced from the residue of the crude oil distillation process called vacuum bottom. Bitumen 60/70 is widely used in the road and building industry, and it can be said that this bitumen grade, along with bitumen 80/100 is one of the most important bitumen grades for exports.
Types of bitumen packaging: Most of the bitumen exported is packed in 98cm barrels (98cm high and 50cm in diameter) but other types of bitumen can be delivered on customer’s request. Another type of packaging is polybag. Polybags are polymer bags used for bitumen packaging and each polybag of bitumen weighs 30 kg. Typically, 700 bitumen polybags could be placed in a 20 feet container and these polybags have the capability of melting in a bitumen machine.
Based on customer’s needs, different bitumen packages can be provided, the most important of which are export metal barrels, polybag bitumen and jambobags.

Bitumen Prices

There are three important factors that affect the price of Iranian bitumen export.

World prices for bitumen
Price of vacuum bottom
The global demand for bitumen
All of the above factors affect the export bitumen price of Iran. In addition to the three factors mentioned above, there are other factors that will affect the export bitumen price. One of these factors is the quality of bitumen produced that undoubtedly all customers are looking to buy the best quality export bitumen in Iran, another factor affecting the export bitumen price of Iran can be the type of bitumen packaging and certainly bulk export bitumen with packed export bitumen, for example in barrels. The export in metal barrels will be different depending on the quality of the packaging. The price of fuel and the cost of moving bitumen from production to destination can also affect the cost of export bitumen for the buyer.

Penetration grade bitumen:
Bitumen is defined by the depth of penetration of a needle under specified conditions inside it. This test method is used to determine the bitumen hardness and the less penetration rate the harder the bitumen. Generally, standards for bitumen classification indicate a range of infiltration, such as bitumen 85/100. Other testing methods are used for specific bitumen classification, such as softening point, solubility, flash point, and so on.

Viscosity grade bitumen:
Another way to classify bitumen is to usually classify bitumen according to its viscosity under standard conditions, usually at a temperature of 60 ° C. To specify the bitumen grid in this way they usually declare the nominal viscosity of the bitumen with the prefix V, such as V1500.

Oxidised bitumen grades:
Using air to pass through high-temperature bitumen usually changes the physical properties of bitumen depending on its use; and the degree of oxidation can range from very low, usually considered as air-modified bitumen, or semi-blown bitumen. Its properties have changed slightly or the bitumen has been completely changed.

Gilsonite is manufactured in different sizes and mesh according to customer standards according to EPA standards and 200, 325, 400 and 600 meshes for domestic consumption and export. The most important part in exporting standard Gilsonite packaging is a 25-pound paper bag sprayed on a wooden pallet with a belt or jumbo bag delivering 600, 700, 800 and 1000 kg of customer’s door or FOB or C&F ports worldwide. The 25 kg bags are packed on 34 pallets and 20 pallets on each 20 foot container. 20 jumbo bags will fit inside each container when purchased in a container. If the customer’s order is 40 feet to 28.8 tons, The maximum filling capacity is the container.

Bitumen
The use of bitumen reduces the appearance of grooves (wheel traces) and other problems that cause asphalt to be lost during heavy traffic due to hot air and reduces the thermal sensitivity of bitumen, thus improving its performance at high temperatures as well as Less damage will occur at low temperatures. Mineral bitumen can be added directly to hot bitumen or mixed with asphalt, which is highly homogeneous and absorbs the bitumen. It also reduces contracting operations.

Gilsonites
The major gilsonite mines in Iran are located in Kermanshah and Ilam as well as Lorestan. Bitumens are solid and have high softness. The bitumen extracted in these areas is mainly used as fuel in forging furnaces or in coking. Mineral bitumen is used in insulation, coating, coking, drilling and asphalt industries.
